What we offer at Manhattan Therapy Collective

Our team of doctoral-level therapists work exclusively with adults, in specialty areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, BIPOC mental health, and insomnia. We are dedicated to multiculturally responsive and affirmative therapy and welcome all identities to our practice.

We offer in-person therapy in Manhattan and virtual therapy. Read on to learn about our services and what to expect.

Please note that our therapists only work with adults 18 years old + who are located in New York.

  • Complimentary

    A 15-minute video consultation

What to expect: This is a chance to ask questions and get answers before scheduling your first session. We encourage you to share about what brings you to therapy or come with questions, especially if this is your first time in therapy. No question is too small. Speaking briefly helps your therapist get a better sense of what you’re looking for and ensures that we’re able to help from our areas of expertise. This is also an opportunity for your therapist to share how they work and for you to get a sense of their personality and style. If your therapist doesn’t end up being a good fit for your needs, they will support you by providing a referral.

  • Fees vary by provider (see Individual Therapy)

A 60-minute session on getting to know you and your focus for therapy

What to expect: Your therapist will ask a holistic range of questions geared towards getting to know you, understanding your background and past experiences, and areas connected to your mental health (e.g., sleep, stressors, health concerns). We want to know what you’re hoping to get out of therapy and any goals you have so we’re attuned and can best help. We’re often curious about past therapy experiences if you have any, so we can build on what worked (and avoid what didn’t). It’s important we understand what brings you to therapy from a birds-eye view and in context - it significantly improves our ability to listen well and effectively help. For us, there is no such thing as unhelpful information!

  • Staff Psychologists: $300-375/session

    Postdoctoral Fellows: $225-275/session

    Doctoral Externs: $125-175/session

Weekly sessions that can be scheduled in-person or virtually.

What to expect: Starting therapy with weekly sessions helps you build a strong and trusting relationship with your therapist so you can do some real work together. It also gives you a chance to practice new skills, make important connections, and creates consistent momentum so you can be encouraged by your own progress and growth. We encourage you to set therapy goals with your therapist so you have a shared sense of direction and purpose.

All of our therapists have doctoral-level training and were selected for their high degree of clinical skill, professional integrity, and commitment to their patients. Our training program allows us to offer a range of fee options to make therapy more accessible, and our entire team regularly engages in professional training and supervision so we can offer the highest, up to date standard of care. We’re passionate about inclusive therapy and we’ll always work holistically and collaboratively on whatever brings you in.

  • $425/session

A 75-minute comprehensive evaluation with a sleep psychologist

What to expect: For the consultation to be of full benefit to you, you will be asked (and receive guidance) to track your sleep for at least one week and complete a sleep background form. This data will be reviewed before meeting to ensure that you receive a comprehensive, thoughtful, and personalized consultation.

Your sleep consultation includes a complete review and discussion of your recent sleep data, medical history, psychiatric history, recent stressors, sleep practices and any medications or supplements you use for sleep. If you have had an overnight sleep study at a medical center, you can send any results or reports ahead as part of your sleep data. Additionally, if you are comfortable with sharing your sleep environment, meeting via telehealth provides an opportunity to take a look at your sleeping environment in detail during the consultation.

After meeting, you will receive an outline of suggested sleep treatment that has been uniquely developed for your needs and aimed at increasing quality sleep without the use of medication.

  • $350-425/session

    45-minute sessions, usually 4-8 sessions

What to expect: CBT-I is the gold standard, evidence-based treatment approach to addressing sleep problems without medication. Based off of your individual sleep evaluation, you will receive a personalized plan that extends well beyond sleep hygiene basics.

Sessions will include in-depth education about sleep processes and may also include skill development around sleep patterns, targeted reduction of sleep-interfering behaviors, the integration of stress management or relaxation skills, cognitive strategies, the appropriate use of light, and understanding healthier sleep adjustments adults can plan for in unique circumstances (e.g., pregnancy, shift work, jet lag due to frequent work travel, etc).

You can expect highly personalized week to week guidance in the implementation of your individualized plan to target your specific sleep difficulties.

  • $350-425/session

45-minute treatment sessions that goes beyond CBT-I and supports people with more complex sleep concerns

What to expect: You may be experiencing more complicated or unexpected symptoms that are negatively impacting your sleep (e.g., night terrors, sleep walking). Or you may be in a unique stage of life where you need to figure out how to adapt your sleep in healthy ways due to factors not completely within your control (e.g., postpartum, work travel across time zones). Maybe you’ve tried CBT-I before, but want something a little more flexible or that incorporates other techniques that may be a better fit for you.

Your treatment plan will be tailored to your unique sleep presentation, and include the most up to date recommendations known in sleep research. In personalized sleep treatment, sessions will accommodate and respond to your weekly progress with active guidance and problem solving.
